RULES & REGULATIONS GOVERNING FIELD TRIPS

1. The Field Trip Chairman shall make an announcement of the coming field trip at the club meeting prior to the trip. The announcement shall include the dates and the location of the camp area, type of terrain, type of material, tools required, and the latest information on road conditions; also information relative to the availability of water, firewood, etc.

2. Detailed maps shall be made available, whenever possible, of the exact location for the trip. In case maps are not available, directions shall be given. If possible, the Field Trip Chairman will set out directional markers and arrive at the camp area ahead of the other members.

3. When in a caravan on the highway, individual vehicles should maintain a safe distance of at least three car lengths between each unit so other traffic may pass the caravan in safety. All members of a caravan should watch the vehicle directly to the rear. If that vehicle stops, the member in front should also stop. In this way if any member is in trouble, the complete caravan will come to a stop and assistance can be offered.

4. After arriving at the location of the field trip, try to make your campsite as comfortable as possible. Contact the Field Trip Chairman concerning any information you may seek or any complaints that may arise. When you decide to go hiking or riding, advise another member in which direction you are going and how long you intend to be gone. Better yet, take a member with you.

5. FIREARMS SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM ANY VEHICLE IN THE CAMP AREA except in cases of emergency. A shovel will kill a rattlesnake just as effectively as a gun. No firecrackers or other types of explosives shall be taken on a field trip.

6. ALL PETS MUST BE KEPT ON A LEASH OR RESTRAINED WHILE IN THE CAMP AREA. All persons attending the field trip and its activities such as campfire and potluck dinner must be responsible for their personal belongings including such equipment as tools, chairs, tables, etc.

7. Campers in vehicles with engine-driven generators will make an effort to minimize noise and fumes. Position your vehicle to direct the noise and fumes away from other campers. If possible, operate the generators only between 8 am and 10 pm.

8. All vehicles, including dune buggies, motorcycles and motorbikes, must not exceed a speed of 5 MILES PER HOUR WHEN GOING IN AND OUT OF THE CAMP AREA. Please refrain from unnecessary riding while in camp; it leads to accidents and causes a noise and dust problem.

9. All campers shall provide their own toilet facilities such as self-contained vehicles or portable toilets when public facilities are not available at the camp area.

10 ALL CAMPSITES MUST BE CLEANED BEFORE LEAVING THE CAMP AREA. TAKE ALL TRASH ALONG WITH YOU TO A DISPOSAL SITE OR BACK HOME. DO NOT DUMP YOUR HOLDING TANK IN THE DESERT. LEAVE THE AREA CLEAN…We may want to return!
